Description: The table sculptures were designed for the banquet given by British Ambassador Roger Palmer, Earl of Castlemaine, in Rome on January 14, 1687. The goddesses are personifications of Earth and Air in an allegorical composition on the Four Elements, which also included sculptures of Vulcan and Neptune.
