Description: Uta stansburiana - Common Side-blotched Lizard Location: Santiago Oaks Regional Park, Orange, CA, USA Identification: http://www.werc.usgs.gov/fieldguide/utst.htm The identification is not certain. The side blotched lizards seems to be quite variable in appearance. One form of the lizard is distinctive and is easily distinguished from sagebrush and western fence lizards. The lizard in this picture is the less distinctive style. It is possible, that the less distinctively marked individuals are juveniles or females. This individual does not have the distinctive marks and coloration, but it is clearly not a western fence lizard because of the smaller scales.
