Description: Virgo Cluster is a cluster of galaxies centered 54 million ly away in the constellation Virgo - Heart of the larger Virgo Supercluster, of which the Local Group is a member - Composed of three subgroups in the process of merging to form a larger single cluster - Heterogeneous mixture of spirals and ellipticals, has 1300 known member galaxies (and possibly up to 2000) - Its brightest members are the elliptical galaxies Messier 49 and Messier 87 -
