Description: The Voorhies-James House in Charlotte, Tennessee, in the southeastern United States. The house was built by Captain William James in 1806. It was one of the few major structures in Charlotte to survive a tornado that destroyed much of the town in 1830. The house is now part of the Charlotte Courthouse Square Historic District, which was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places as a historic district in 1977.
