Description: Col. Waller Tazewell Patton of the 7th Virginia Infantry Regiment. Confederate Army Colonel Waller Tazewell Patton, Class of 1855. Patton was mortally wounded at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863, while leading the 7th Virginia Infantry. He was the great-uncle of Gen. George S. Patton, Jr. of World War II fame. The original oil portrait is owned by the Virginia Military Institute.
