Description: The Washington Square Village housing complex of New York University in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, was built in 1956-1958. It was designed by S. J. Kessler, with Paul Lester Weiner the consultant for design and site planning, and was an indication of what "city planning" meant at the time. (Source: AIA Guide to NYC (4th ed.))
