Description: The current courthouse for Wilkes County, Georgia was completed in 1904 on the downtown square in Washington, Georgia, and originally included a taller, more detailed clock tower and roofline. A 1958 fire ravaged the top of the courthouse, leaving the building flat-topped for decades until the current roof and clock tower were added in 1989.
