Description: Wulfenite, Rosasite Locality: Sherman Mine (Sherman tunnel; Leadville Corporation Mine; Day Mines; Hilltop Mine), Upper Iowa Gulch, Leadville District, Lake County, Colorado, USA (Locality at mindat.org) Size: 16.8 x 12.5 x 6.7 cm. From one of the most classic Colorado localities, we have a great secondary ore association specimen. This piece features very small (1 mm), lustrous, sharp, gemmy, tabular, orange Wulfenite crystals on beautifully contrasting blue green Rosasite matrix. It’s not what you typically expect from a Colorado specimen, but this material is exceptionally rare from this mine. This specimen is close to 30 years old and comes from the noted Colorado collection of Richard Kosnar. From the M-16-9 area.
