Jordi Gordillo Brunet was born on August 16, 1983, in Barcelona, Spain. He is a talented swimmer who competes in the S5 classification. This means he is a para-athlete with a physical impairment. Jordi's Swimming Journey
Early Career and First Paralympics
Jordi started his journey in competitive swimming at a young age. His hard work led him to the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney, Australia. This was his first time competing on such a big international stage.
Medal Wins at the Paralympics
Jordi continued to show his skill in later Paralympic Games.
- At the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece, he won a bronze medal. This was for the 4 x 50 meter 20 point medley relay race.
- He then competed at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China. There, he earned a silver medal in the 4 x 50 meter 20 point freestyle relay.
World Championship Success
Besides the Paralympics, Jordi has also achieved great success at the World Para Swimming Championships:
- He won gold medals in the 4x50m freestyle relay in 2002 (Mar del Plata), 2006 (Durban), and 2010 (Eindhoven).
- At the 2010 Eindhoven championships, he also secured a bronze medal in the 4x50m medley relay.
Background and Support
Jordi comes from the Catalan region of Spain. His dedication to swimming has been recognized. In 2012, he received a scholarship from the Plan ADO. This program helps support Spanish athletes who are preparing for the Paralympic Games.
