The Old Stone Church
This marker is about The Presbyterian (Old Stone) Church. It is located on Church Street in Esperance, New York. The church was started on May 2, 1823. Its building was officially opened on July 4, 1824. Later, in 1897, the church was updated and opened again. This marker was placed in 1932.
Blenheim Bridge
The Blenheim Bridge marker tells us about a very special bridge. It was once the longest single-span wooden bridge in the whole world! This amazing bridge was built by a company in 1828. It was the last bridge of its kind in this area. You can find this marker on Route 30 in Blenheim, New York. The marker was put up in 1935 by the State Education Department.
Gilboa Settlement
The Gilboa Settlement marker is in Gilboa, New York. It reminds us of a town that used to be there. This old settlement had a cotton mill from 1840 to 1869. It also had a tannery, a church, and a cemetery. All of these places are now covered by a reservoir. This reservoir helps supply water to New York City. The marker was placed in 1949.
Weiser's Dorf
This marker is about Weiser's Dorf, which means "Weiser's Village." It was the very first settlement in Schoharie County! John G. Weiser founded this village in 1712 or 1713. He created it as a home for a group of people called Palatines. You can find this marker in Middleburgh, New York. It was put in place by the State Education Department in 1932.
