The long-snouted frog is a small frog found in Australia. It's also known by other cool names like the scrub rocket frog or the sharp-snouted frog. Its scientific name is Litoria longirostris. This unique frog makes its home in the northern part of Queensland, specifically on the Cape York Peninsula.
Where the Long-Snouted Frog Lives
The long-snouted frog prefers to live in places that are high above sea level. You can find them near streams and inside forests. They like areas with lots of plants and moisture. This frog is well-adapted to its forest home.
How Long-Snouted Frogs Reproduce
Unlike many other frogs, the long-snouted frog does not lay its eggs directly in water. This is quite unusual for a frog! Instead, they are very careful about where they place their eggs. Scientists have found their eggs on rocks, on leaves, and even on dead plants. They also lay eggs on the trunks of trees. All these spots are always very close to water, but never actually in it. This special way of laying eggs helps protect them.
