Marty Sampson is an Australian singer and songwriter. He was born on May 31, 1979. From the late 1990s until 2019, he was a worship leader at the Hillsong Church in Sydney. He was also one of the first worship leaders for the band Hillsong United. Marty mainly plays the guitar, but he also plays the piano, flute, and drums. Besides his work with Youth Alive and Hillsong United, he has also released his own music.

Marty Sampson's Early Life and Career

Marty Sampson was born on May 31, 1979. He became a member of the Hillsong Church in Sydney. Starting in the late 1990s, he appeared on Youth Alive albums. He was also one of the first worship leaders for the band Hillsong United. His last album with Hillsong United was Aftermath in 2011. He often led worship at the church and helped create songs for Hillsong albums. After leaving Hillsong United, he focused on writing new songs. Marty also helped with worship at Northern Beaches, which is a part of Hillsong. In November 2006, he married Michelle, and they have a son together.

Solo Music and Collaborations

In 2007, Marty Sampson released his first solo music, an EP called Let Love Rule. An EP is a collection of songs, shorter than a full album. He released it through his official website. In April 2008, Marty helped write a song called "We Give You Praise." He wrote it with members of the Christian rock band Delirious? from the United Kingdom.

In 2010, Marty recorded an album in the United States. He used the band name The Red Bikes for this project. James Rudder produced the album. Luke Munns played drums, Michael Guy Chislett played guitar, and Paul Malbury played bass guitar. This album has not been released. In June 2011, Marty Sampson released another solo EP called Objects. This album featured acoustic guitar folk music, similar to the style of Bob Dylan. The songs for Objects were recorded at the same time as The Red Bikes project.

On August 10, 2019, Marty Sampson shared that he was exploring his beliefs. He later clarified on August 23, 2019, that he no longer identifies as a Christian.
