Mikael Hopkins, born on June 23, 1993, is a professional basketball player. He plays as a power forward for the Fukushima Firebonds team in Japan's B.League. Mikael is 2.06 m (6 ft 9 in) tall. Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for the Georgetown Hoyas. He is an American-Hungarian player.

Early Basketball Days
Mikael Hopkins went to DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. While playing there, he helped his team win three championships. These championships were for their conference and city.
College Basketball Journey
In October 2010, Mikael decided to play college basketball for the Georgetown Hoyas.
Freshman Year (2011–2012)
As a freshman, Mikael played in 30 games during the 2011–12 season. He scored about 2.4 points and grabbed 1.1 rebounds per game. On December 3, 2011, he scored his highest points for the season, with 12 points, against NJIT.
Sophomore Year (2012–2013)
In his second year, Mikael played in 32 games and started in 31 of them. He was the sixth-highest scorer on his team, averaging 5.9 points per game. He also averaged 2.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game. Mikael scored 10 or more points seven times that season. On February 11, 2013, he had a career-high 9 rebounds against Marquette. Later, on March 15, he scored a career-high 15 points against Syracuse in a big tournament.
Junior Year (2013–2014)
As a junior, Mikael played in all 33 games, starting 19 of them. He averaged 6.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. He was the third-best rebounder on his team. Mikael also led his team with 50 blocked shots.
Senior Year (2014–2015)
In his final year at college, Mikael played in all 33 games. He started in 24 of these games for the Hoyas.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Mikael Hopkins was not chosen in the 2015 NBA draft. However, he began his professional career overseas.
Starting in Turkey (2015–2018)
In the 2015–16 season, Mikael joined İstanbul DSİ in Turkey. This team played in the second-tier Turkish First League. Later, in February 2017, he signed with Samsunspor DSI, another Turkish First League team. In July 2017, he moved to Yalova Group BelediyeSpor. By December 2017, he returned to Samsunspor DSI for the rest of the 2017–18 season.
Playing in Bulgaria (2018–2019)
In August 2018, Mikael signed with Balkan Botevgrad in the Bulgarian League. During the 2018–19 FIBA Europe Cup season, he played 16 games. He averaged 14.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
Moving to Slovenia and Italy (2019–2023)
On July 19, 2019, Mikael signed a two-year contract with the Slovenian club Cedevita Olimpija. In the 2020–21 season, he averaged 10.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. On August 1, 2021, Mikael signed with Reggio Emilia in Italy's top basketball league, the Lega Basket Serie A (LBA).
Recent Teams (2023–Present)
Mikael played for Enisey from 2023 to 2024. Since 2024, he has been playing for the Fukushima Firebonds in Japan.
International Play
Mikael Hopkins became a Hungarian citizen. Since 2022, he has been playing for the Hungary men's national basketball team.
