Where Nadia Grew Up
Nadia Mukami was born in Nairobi, Kenya, on November 9, 1996. She grew up in the city and went to Kari Mwailu Primary School. She finished her primary education in 2009.
Nadia's High School and College Years
After primary school, Nadia attended Mount Laverna School in Kasarani, Nairobi. Later, she went to Maseno University. There, she studied Business Administration, focusing on Finance.
Nadia's Music Journey
Starting Her Music Career
Nadia began her music journey by writing and recording her first song in 2015. It was called "Barua Ya Siri." Her second song, "Kesi," came out in 2017. This song became quite popular. It helped her get invited to perform at big music events. These included the Blaze The Nile Festival and The Luo Festival.
Breakthrough with "Radio Love"
In February 2019, Nadia released a song called "Radio Love." This song featured another artist, Arrow Bwoy. "Radio Love" became a huge hit and was played a lot on radio and TV stations across Kenya. This song helped Nadia become widely known.
Awards and International Recognition
After the success of "Radio Love," Nadia won two awards for the song in 2019. These were at the Pulse Music Video Awards (PMVA). That same year, she also represented Kenya at Coke Studio Africa. This is a show where artists from different African countries collaborate.
In early 2020, Nadia released another song, "Nitekenye," with the Kenyan music group "Sailors." Her first EP, African Popstar, was released in October 2020. The main song from the EP was "Jipe," featuring Tanzanian singer Marioo. This song came out in March 2020. The EP also featured many other talented artists. These included Khaligraph Jones, Maua Sama, Fena Gitu, DJ Joe Mfalme, Sanaipei Tande, Orezi from Nigeria, Tamy Moyo from Zimbabwe, and Lioness Nam from Namibia. Nadia was also nominated for the HiPipo awards in 2020.
In 2021, Nadia received her first nomination for the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA). This showed her growing popularity across the continent.
New Music and Achievements
In 2022, Nadia released a new EP called Bundle of Joy. This EP had four songs and featured artists like Iyanii, Latinoh, and Arrow Bwoy. Nadia shared that she worked on this project during her pregnancy. She said it was a very special piece of art for her.
In September 2023, Nadia Mukami won a big award. She was named the Best Female Artist in East Africa at the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMAs). This event took place in Dallas, Texas.
