New Melle is a small city in St. Charles County, Missouri, United States. It is located about 38 miles west of St. Louis. In 2020, the city had a population of 541 people.

History of New Melle
New Melle was planned and laid out around 1850. The community got its name from Melle, Germany. This was the hometown of some of the very first settlers.
A post office opened in New Melle in 1850. The town officially became a city in 1978. Two important places in New Melle are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These are the Meier General Store and St. Paul's Church.
Geography and Area
New Melle is located in the state of Missouri. The city covers a total area of about 1.61 square miles (4.17 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, about 1.57 square miles (4.07 square kilometers). A small part, about 0.04 square miles (0.10 square kilometers), is water.
