Niclas Castello (born Norbert Zerbs in 1978) is a famous German artist. He creates modern art, often called contemporary art. His work often mixes ideas from pop art and street art.
Becoming an Artist
Niclas Castello grew up in a town called Neuhaus am Rennweg in East Germany. He later lived in Montmartre, a famous art area in Paris, France.
Art Studies and Travel
In 2003, Castello moved back to Germany. He started studying art at a private university. However, he left after two years to follow his own path.
After that, Castello moved to New York City in the United States. There, he received help from an artist named Arleen Schloss. He stayed in her New York loft for about two years. From 2008 to 2015, he traveled a lot. He worked with art galleries in both Europe and the United States.
Art Style and Influences
Castello has said that the artist Invader has inspired his work. Invader is known for creating art using small tiles, like pixels.
Niclas Castello is known for some special art pieces. One famous series is called The Kiss sculptures. He also creates artwork that shows fire extinguishers. One of his artworks can be found in a very large private home in Bel Air, Los Angeles, called The One.
Personal Life
Niclas Castello married Sylvie Meis on September 19, 2020. Sylvie Meis is a well-known TV personality from the Netherlands. They got married in Florence, Italy. The couple later separated in June 2023.
