Ozark Beach, Missouri facts for kids
Ozark Beach is a small, quiet place in southern Missouri. It's not a big city with its own government, but rather a community located in Taney County. This area is part of the beautiful Ozarks, a region known for its hills and forests. Ozark Beach sits right on the edge of Lake Taneycomo, a long, narrow lake. It's about a mile upstream from a large structure called Powersite Dam.
History of Ozark Beach
Ozark Beach started around 1912. This was about the same time that Lake Taneycomo was created. The lake was formed when the Powersite Dam was built, which caused the area to fill with water. So, the community of Ozark Beach grew up right next to this new lake.
A post office was opened in Ozark Beach in 1919. This post office served the community for many years. It helped people send and receive mail. The post office stayed open until 1959.
