Town Location and Roads
Petersburg is found at specific map coordinates: 35°19′7″N 86°38′15″W / 35.31861°N 86.63750°W. The town is built around a central town square. This square is where two main roads meet.
- Tennessee State Route 130 (SR 130) connects Petersburg to Shelbyville to the northeast.
- Tennessee State Route 129 (SR 129) links the town to Cornersville in the west and Lynchburg in the east.
Another important road, U.S. Route 431 (US 431), goes through the western part of Petersburg. This road connects the town to Lewisburg and Fayetteville.
The United States Census Bureau says that Petersburg covers about 0.9 square miles (2.4 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the town limits.
