Saskhori is a small, quiet settlement located in the beautiful Nichbisistskali Gorge in Georgia. It's part of the Mtskheta Municipality and lies within the traditional region of Ertso-Tianeti. This village is known for its rich history and old churches.

History of Saskhori

Saskhori has a long history, dating back many centuries. It was first mentioned in official documents in 1441. This was in a special paper called a "deed" from King Alexander to a place named Svetitskhoveli.

The village is also mentioned in another important document from 1467. This was a "Book of Mercy" from King Bagrat. It gave land to a person named Daniel Eliozisdze.

Later, between 1794 and 1799, a writer named Ioane Bagrationi described Saskhori as a village. In 1886, a newspaper called Iveria reported that some land in Saskhori was sold. This happened because taxes were not paid on the land.
