Shelly Willingham was born on November 27, 1943. He is a member of the Democratic Party. He works as a representative in the North Carolina House of Representatives. He has been representing the 23rd district since 2015. This district includes all of Martin and Edgecombe counties. Before this, he also served in the House from 2002 to 2003.

Shelly Willingham's Political Journey
Shelly Willingham started his political career in the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2002. He was chosen to take over for Toby Fitch, who became a judge. Willingham tried to get elected for a full term in a new district in 2002, but he did not win.
He also ran for state senator a few times but was not successful. Later, he served two terms on the Edgecombe County School Board. This means he helped make decisions for the schools in Edgecombe County.
Willingham returned to the North Carolina House in 2015. He was elected to represent the 23rd district. Since then, he has been re-elected four times. His most recent election was in 2022.
