Tamar Ulysses Slay (born April 2, 1980) is an American basketball player who used to play professionally. He was a tall player, standing 6 feet 9 inches (2.03 meters) tall. He played as a guard or forward. Tamar Slay played for teams like the New Jersey Nets and Charlotte Bobcats in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before turning professional, he played college basketball for the Marshall Thundering Herd.

Early Basketball Days
High School Success
Tamar Slay went to Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, West Virginia. He was a big part of their basketball team. He helped his school win two state championships in 1997 and 1998. These were big wins for the school's basketball history.
College Career at Marshall
After high school, Tamar went to Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. He was one of the best players on the Marshall Thundering Herd team. During his four years in college, he scored about 15.7 points in each game.

Playing in the NBA
In 2002, Tamar Slay was chosen by the New Jersey Nets in the 2002 NBA draft. He was the 54th player picked overall. He played for the Nets for two seasons. After that, he joined the Charlotte Bobcats for the 2004–2005 season. His last NBA game was in December 2004.
Playing Around the World
After his time in the NBA, Tamar Slay played basketball in other countries. In 2005, he joined Hapoel Jerusalem, a top team in Israel. Later, he played for the Bakersfield Jam in the NBA Development League in 2007.
He then moved to Italy to play for several teams. These included Pierrel Capo d'Orlando (2007–2008), Air Avellino (2008–2009), Carmatic Pistoia (2009–2010), and Umana Venezia (2010–2012). He also played for Sutor Basket Montegranaro (2012–2013) and Basket Brescia Leonessa (2013–2014) in Italy.
Coaching After Playing
In April 2022, Tamar Slay became an assistant coach at Marshall University. He worked under head coach Dan D'Antoni. However, he left the coaching job in May 2022 for personal reasons.
