The Zoo is a fun British TV show made for kids. It's a special type of show called a mockumentary. This means it looks like a documentary, but it's actually a comedy! The show follows the daily lives of animals at Paignton Zoo and Living Coasts. But here's the funny part: the animals have human voices and computer-made mouths!
The show is narrated by Hugh Dennis. He tells the story in a way that's both factual and super funny. He even talks to the animals to hear their side of things! The main stars of the show are Jürgen and his group of gorillas.
The Zoo first aired on CBBC in the UK on 14 August 2017. A second series started on 9 April 2018. In September 2018, the show was also featured as part of Saturday Mash-Up.
How The Zoo Works
The Zoo is a bit like other funny animal shows, such as Animal Magic and Walk on the Wild Side. In this show, Hugh Dennis is the narrator. He chats with the animals and the zoo staff at Paignton Zoo and Living Coasts.
Talking Animals
The animals in the show are given human voices. They also have special computer-generated mouths that make it look like they are really talking! Many talented voice actors bring these animals to life. They include Lewis Macleod, Jess Robinson, Richard David-Caine, Jake Pratt, and Stuart Garlick.
Sometimes, the animals even have different accents. For example, you might hear giraffes, penguins, kangaroos, or tigers with unique voices. A common phrase you'll hear in the show is: "_____ is an important part of daily life at the zoo and____".
