The Twin Lakes are two small, natural freshwater lakes located in Lake Wales, Florida. They are found on the south side of the city. Sometimes people call them simply Twin Lakes, but they also have individual names: Twin Lake West and Twin Lake East. Both lakes are surrounded by swampy areas, especially between the two lakes and on the west side of Twin Lake East. Twin Lake West is the larger of the two, covering about 18.76-acre (75,900 m2) of water. Twin Lake East has a water area of about 15.19-acre (61,500 m2).

The Twin Lakes are a pair of natural freshwater lakes in Lake Wales, Florida. They are known for their natural, swampy surroundings. These lakes are a quiet part of the local environment.
Exploring Twin Lake West
Twin Lake West is the bigger of the two lakes. It covers about 18.76 acres. All of its shores are swampy. This means the land around the lake is wet and marshy. On its north side, Twin Lake West is bordered by West Polk Avenue. This road is near Highway 60 and the Midflorida Credit Union. The rest of the lake is surrounded by wide swampy areas. This gives it a very natural and wild feel.
Exploring Twin Lake East
Twin Lake East is slightly smaller than Twin Lake West, covering about 15.19 acres. Its western shore is swampy, similar to its twin. The eastern side of Twin Lake East is bordered by South 1st Street. This street is also the edge of the South Gate Shopping Center. Highway 60 borders the lake to the northeast. To the northwest, there are trees. The southern side of the lake is surrounded by homes.
What Lives in the Twin Lakes?
Even though these lakes are small, they are home to different types of fish. According to the Hook and Bullet website, you can find several popular fish species here. These include largemouth bass, bluegill, and crappie. These fish are often sought after by people who enjoy fishing.
Visiting the Twin Lakes
The Twin Lakes are mostly natural areas without many public facilities. There are no public swimming areas or boat ramps on either lake. However, each lake does have one private boat dock.
You can reach Twin Lake East in some areas. There are public access points along the sides of Highway 60 and South 1st Street. These are called "right-of-way" areas. This means people can walk along these edges. However, there is no public access to Twin Lake West. This lake remains a more secluded natural spot.
