Chinyere Yvonne Okoro is a famous actress from Ghana and Nigeria. She was born to a Nigerian father and a Ghanaian mother, so she often calls herself an "African." Yvonne grew up in Koforidua, a town in the eastern part of Ghana.

Yvonne has won many awards for her acting. In 2010, she received the Ghana Movie Awards Best Actress Award. She was also nominated for the Africa Movie Academy Awards Best Actress award two times in a row, in 2011 and 2012. These nominations were for her movies Pool Party and Single Six. She has also won four Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards. In 2012, she received a special award called the Distinguished Achievement Award at the Nigeria Excellence Awards.

Early Life and Education

Yvonne Okoro has a mixed background, with a Ghanaian mother and a Nigerian father. She is the first child of her mother and the fifth among all her siblings. From a young age, Yvonne knew she wanted to be an actress.

She went to several schools, starting with Achimota Preparatory School. After that, she attended Lincoln Community School and Faith Montessori School. For her high school education, she went to Mfantsiman Girls Secondary School.

Later, Yvonne studied at the University of Ghana, Legon. There, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, focusing on English and Linguistics. She also studied in France at the Universite de Nantes. In France, she learned about Press Civilization, Drama, and Marketing.

Acting Career

Yvonne Okoro started her acting journey in 2002. Her first movie was Sticking to the Promise, made by Nigerian producer Theo Akatugba. This was right after she finished high school. She also had a small role in the popular TV show Tentacles, created by the same producer.

Since 2018, Yvonne has been the host of a cooking show called Dining with Cooks and Braggarts. On this show, famous people cook their favorite meals. While they cook, they talk about different interesting topics.

Awards and Recognition

Yvonne Okoro has been recognized for her talent and style.

  • In 2019, she won the Glitz Africa Style Influencer of the Year award. This was at the 5th Glitz Style Awards event.
  • Also in 2019, she received the Best Radio and TV Personality of the Year award. This award was given at the Women's Choice Awards.

Giving Back to the Community

Yvonne Okoro is also known for her kindness and generosity. She believes in helping others.

  • In June 2019, she gave $10,000 to the Black Queens of Ghana. This donation was to celebrate them winning the bronze medal at the 2019 WAFU Zone B tournament.
  • At the beginning of 2020, she donated many useful items to the maternity ward. This was at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
