The McPlant is a special burger sold by the fast-food chain McDonald's. It is made for people who want to eat less meat or no meat at all. This burger uses a patty made from plants, not meat. It can be a vegetarian or vegan option, depending on where you buy it.
McDonald's worked with a company called Beyond Meat to create the McPlant. Beyond Meat makes food from plants that tastes like meat. They teamed up in 2021 to make this new burger.

Trying Out the McPlant
The McPlant was first tried out in the United Kingdom in October 2021. After that, it was tested in some parts of the United States, like California and Texas, starting in February 2022. However, the test in the United States ended in August 2022.
In July 2022, Australia also started selling the McPlant for a short time in Victoria.
Today, you can find the McPlant in several countries. These include the United Kingdom, Sweden, Australia, Denmark, and Portugal.

The McPlant burger uses a patty made from plants. This patty is created by Beyond Meat using ingredients like potatoes, peas, and rice.

In the United Kingdom, the McPlant comes with fresh iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato. It also has tomato ketchup and a special vegan sandwich sauce. A plant-based cheese alternative is used instead of regular cheese. The burger is cooked on a separate surface to keep it completely vegan.
McPlant in the United States
In the United States, the McPlant uses American cheese and mayonnaise. Because of these ingredients, and because the burger is cooked on the same grill as meat burgers, it is not considered vegan in the United States.
