Óscar Marcelino Álvarez (born May 25, 1948 – died April 28, 2016) was a talented football player from Argentina. He was known for his amazing skills as a striker, scoring many goals throughout his career.

Óscar Álvarez's Football Journey
Óscar started his professional football career in his home country, Argentina. He played for two different clubs, Banfield and Newell's Old Boys. He was with these teams between 1968 and 1970. After his time in Argentina, Óscar moved to Greece to continue his football adventure.
Playing for PAS Giannina
In 1972, Óscar joined the Greek football club PAS Giannina. He played there for four years, from 1972 to 1976. During his time with PAS Giannina, he scored an amazing 77 goals! This made him the second-highest goal scorer in the club's entire history. That's a lot of goals!
Joining Panathinaikos
In 1976, Óscar joined one of Greece's biggest football teams, Panathinaikos. He played for them until 1980. While at Panathinaikos, he scored 57 goals, becoming the ninth-highest scorer in their history.
Óscar was part of a very successful Panathinaikos team. In the 1976–77 season, his team won both the Greek Championship and the Greek Cup. This is known as winning "the double." He was also one of the top goal scorers in the Greek championship during his time there. In 1977, he was the third-highest scorer with 19 goals, and in 1978, he was the second-highest with 18 goals.
Finishing his Career at Atromitos
After leaving Panathinaikos, Óscar moved to another Greek club, Atromitos, in 1980. He played there for one year before he retired from professional football in 1981.
