Ab Fafié (born March 4, 1941 – died November 27, 2012) was a famous Dutch football player and manager. He was known for his time playing as a Left-back and later for coaching several teams, including Feyenoord and FC Utrecht.

Playing Career
Ab Fafié started his football journey in 1959. He made his first professional appearance, known as a debut, for his hometown club Feijenoord. This was a big moment for him!
Clubs Ab Played For
After playing for Feijenoord, Ab also joined other clubs. He played for Xerxes, another team from Rotterdam. Later, he moved to PSV. During his time at PSV, he faced some injuries. Because of this, he only played 13 games for them.
Managerial Career
After his playing days, Ab Fafié became a football manager. A manager is like the head coach of a team. They decide who plays, what strategies to use, and how the team trains.
Coaching Feyenoord
In 1981, Ab became an assistant manager at Feyenoord. He helped the main manager, Hans Kraay. In 1983, he took over as a temporary manager. Then, in 1984, he became the full-time manager of Feyenoord. Under his leadership, Feyenoord finished third in the Eredivisie league for two seasons in a row.
King Ab at FC Utrecht
Ab Fafié later managed many teams in Europe. One of his most famous periods was at FC Utrecht. Fans even gave him the nickname King Ab! He earned this name because he led the team to a fantastic fourth-place finish in his first season. This meant they qualified for a big European competition called the UEFA Cup.
However, the next year, FC Utrecht was knocked out of the UEFA Cup by the famous Spanish team Real Madrid. After a few less successful seasons, Ab Fafié left the club in 1994.
Other Coaching Adventures
Ab also coached teams in other countries, like AEK Athens in Greece and AA Gent in Belgium. He even had coaching jobs in Indonesia with two clubs there. In his later years, he coached amateur teams like CVV and Overmaas.
Personal Life
Ab Fafié passed away in November 2012. He was 71 years old. He is remembered as a dedicated football player and manager who made a significant impact on Dutch football.
