Rural Municipality of Albert facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Rural Municipality of Albert was a special kind of local government area, like a county, in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It officially started on December 1, 1905. But on January 1, 2015, it joined with two other areas, the Rural Municipality of Arthur and the Rural Municipality of Edward. This big change was decided by the province, and together they formed a new, larger area called the Municipality of Two Borders.

In 2006, about 339 people lived in the Rural Municipality of Albert. It was located in the Westman Region of Manitoba. This area was mostly used for farming. It was created in 1905 when the larger Rural Municipality of Arthur was split into smaller parts. The new area was named after Albert Edward, who later became King Edward VII of England.

Before it joined with other areas, the population of the Rural Municipality of Albert had gone down a bit. It covered an area of about 769.55 square kilometres. It was located right next to Manitoba's border with Saskatchewan.
