Scientific classification
Genus:
Amsinckia
Species:
spectabilis

Amsinckia spectabilis, also known as the seaside fiddleneck or woolly breeches, is a type of plant. It belongs to a group of plants called fiddlenecks.

This plant naturally grows along the west coast of North America. You can find it from British Columbia in Canada all the way down to Baja California in Mexico. It loves sandy places, especially right near the ocean.

What Does Seaside Fiddleneck Look Like?

The seaside fiddleneck is a plant that grows for only one year. It has a somewhat rough or "bristly" feel, much like other fiddleneck plants.

Its leaves sometimes have small, fine teeth along their edges. The flowers grow in a special way, coiling up like the head of a fiddle. This is where the name "fiddleneck" comes from!

The flowers are yellow and shaped like tubes. Each flower can be about 2 centimetres (0.8 in) long. When you look at the face of the flower, it is about 1.5 centimetres (0.6 in) wide.

Where Does it Grow?

This plant is very good at living in sandy areas. It thrives in places like beaches, dunes, and other coastal habitats. Its ability to grow in these tough, sandy spots makes it a common sight along the Pacific coastline.
