Ana María Vázquez Hoys was born in Madrid, Spain, on October 8, 1945. She grew up in a Christian Catholic family.
Her Education and Career
Vázquez Hoys earned her first degree in geography and history from the Complutense University of Madrid in June 1969. She then continued her studies and received a PhD in ancient history in 1974. A PhD is a very high academic degree.
In 1980, she started teaching ancient history at the UNED in Madrid. By 1984, she became a full professor of ancient history in the Department of Prehistory and Ancient History at the same university.

Since the 1980s, Professor Vázquez Hoys has written many academic books and articles about ancient history. She has also taken part in international conferences, sharing her research with other experts.
She has worked with radio and television programs to make history interesting for everyone. Since 2009, she has often appeared on Spanish radio stations like 'Dial' and 'Europa_FM', especially with presenter Javier Cárdenas.
In 2010, she published her first historical novel, El Sol Negro (The Black Sun). This book is a story set in Ancient Egypt.
