Andromeda (also known as Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda) is a cool science fiction TV show from Canada and the United States. It aired from 2000 to 2005. A total of 110 episodes were made. Each episode was about 40 minutes long. The show's ideas were inspired by the world of Star Trek.

What is Andromeda About?
Andromeda tells a story set far in the future. It's about a starship captain named Dylan Hunt. He wakes up 300 years after his ship, the Andromeda Ascendant, gets stuck near a black hole. He finds the galaxy in chaos. The old government, called the Systems Commonwealth, has fallen apart.
Dylan's Mission
Dylan Hunt's main goal is to bring back the Systems Commonwealth. This was a time of peace and order across many planets. He gathers a new crew for his ship. Together, they travel the galaxy. They try to unite different worlds and bring back hope.
The Creator: Gene Roddenberry
The show is based on ideas from Gene Roddenberry. He was the amazing creator of Star Trek. Roddenberry passed away in 1991. This was nine years before Andromeda first aired.
Roddenberry's Earlier Ideas
Even in the 1960s and 1970s, Roddenberry had many ideas for future TV shows. Andromeda is one of two shows made from these early ideas. The other is Earth: Final Conflict. The name "Dylan Hunt" was used before. It was the hero's name in two TV pilots Roddenberry made in the mid-1970s. These pilots were called Genesis II and Planet Earth. They also had similar future settings.
A Family Project
Roddenberry's widow, Majel Barrett, helped produce Andromeda. This meant she helped make sure the show got made. She was also known for her voice work in Star Trek.
