Aneesa Ashante O'Brien was born on April 27, 2002. She is a talented football player, also known as a soccer player. Aneesa plays as a goalkeeper, which means she protects her team's goal. Currently, she plays for Karmiotissa, a club in the Cypriot First Division. Even though she was born in Canada, Aneesa plays for the Guyana national team.
Playing in College
Aneesa went to college at Jacksonville State University in the United States. She played soccer for their team, the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. Her first college game was on March 5, 2021. She made five saves in that game. She was even chosen for a special team called the FTF All-Freshman Second Team in 2021. This means she was one of the best new players that year.
Playing for Her Country
Aneesa plays for Guyana in international games. Her mother was born in Guyana. Her friend, Nailah Rowe, who also plays for Guyana, helped her join the team.
Senior Team Debut
Aneesa first played for the senior Guyana team in 2018. She was only 15 years old then. She played in the 2018 CFU Women's Challenge Series. Her first games were against Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.
Under-20 Team
In 2019, Aneesa played for the Guyana Under-20 team. She played in the 2020 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship qualification tournament. She played in four games and did not let the other team score in three of them. Later, she also played in the main 2020 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship tournament.
