Early Life and Education

Anna Balletbó was born in Barcelona, Spain, on December 15, 1943. An interesting fact is that her aunt was the grandmother of the famous football manager, Pep Guardiola.

When she was younger, Anna went to a boarding school in England. There, she focused on learning the English language. Later, she studied at a journalism institute in Spain. She also earned a degree in educational sciences from the University of Barcelona. On top of that, she studied modern history and communication sciences at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Career and Activities

After finishing her studies, Anna Balletbó worked as a pre-school teacher for seven years. She then started her career in journalism. She wrote regularly for the newspaper El Correo Catalán. Later, she began working for the BBC, a famous broadcasting company.

Political Career

In 1979, Anna Balletbó was chosen to be a deputy for Barcelona. A deputy is like a representative who helps make laws for the country. She was part of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party. She served in the Congress of Deputies, which is a big meeting place where these representatives work. Her time as a deputy ended in the year 2000.

Academic and Foundation Work

Anna Balletbó also had a career in academics. From 1975, she worked as a teacher at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She became a professor in the Faculty of Information Sciences.
