Arví Park facts for kids
Arví Park is a special place in Medellín, Colombia. It's known in Spanish as "Ecotourism Park Arví." This park is a huge nature preserve and also an ancient archeological site. It sits on the eastern side of the Aburrá Valley.
Arví Park covers a massive 16,000 hectares (about 39,500 acres). A big part of this area, 1,760 hectares, is natural forest. The park also has 54 miles of trails where you can walk and explore. It's a popular spot for tourists. People love to see its beautiful wildflowers and butterflies.
You can enjoy many activities here, like hiking, nature tours, and cycling. There's even an outdoor food market near the gondola station. The Piedras Blancas Ecological Hotel is also right next to the park.
The park is easy to reach from downtown Medellín. You can take the Medellín Metro to the Arví station. From there, a special metrocable line takes you directly into the park.

Ancient History at Arví

One famous trail is called "Camino Cieza de León." It's also known as the "Prehispanic Trail." This trail might be more than 1,500 years old! It's very wide and built from stone. Some parts of the original trail are still in great condition today.
Riding the Metrocable to Arví
One of the coolest ways to get to Arví Park is by using the metrocable. This cable car system is perfect for those who love ecological tourism.
The Arví Cable, or Metrocable Line L, connects the Santo Domingo Savio station to Arví Ecotourism Park. It's the first cable car line built just for tourists. It started running in February 2010.
