Carmen Babiano was born in the city of Santiago de Compostela in Spain. From a young age, she showed great talent for art. She became known for her skills in painting and drawing.

Showcasing Her Art

Carmen Babiano was very active in showing her artwork to the public. She participated in several art exhibitions, which are like art shows where artists display their creations.

  • In 1875, at the Santiago Exhibition, she displayed two oil paintings and two landscapes drawn with crayon.
  • In 1878, at an exhibition in Coruña, she showed a portrait painted in oil of the Marquis de Méndez Núñez.
  • In 1880, at an exhibition in Pontevedra, she presented several studies made with pen and watercolor. She also showed three life-size portraits drawn with crayon and an oil painting titled "A Girl Feeding Chickens."

Carmen Babiano Méndez-Núñez passed away in Pontevedra in 1914. Her legacy as a pioneering female artist continues to be remembered.
