The History of Concepción Batres
How Concepción Batres Became a Town
Long ago, at the start of the 1900s, this area was known as Río Batres. It was named after a river that separated parts of Usulután and San Miguel. A small village, also called Batres, grew up near this river. It was part of the Ereguayquín area.
In 1920, something important happened. On March 5, 1920, a special law was passed. This law officially made the Batres canton into a town. It was given the new name of Concepción Batres.

When Concepción Batres became a town, some nearby areas joined it. These areas were the cantons of La Danta, San Ildefonso, and Vado Marín. They used to be part of Ereguayquín, but now they became part of Concepción Batres. Since it was founded, Concepción Batres has always been part of the Usulután department and district.
