Connor O'Brien, 2nd Viscount Clare (born around 1605 – died 1670) was an important Irish nobleman. He was the son of Daniel O'Brien, 1st Viscount Clare and Catherine FitzGerald. His mother was the daughter of Gerald, the 14th Earl of Desmond.

His Family and Early Life

Connor O'Brien was born around 1605. He was the second son of Daniel O'Brien and Catherine FitzGerald. His father was the first person to hold the title of Viscount Clare.

Connor's family, the O'Briens, was a very old and famous Irish family. They were known for being descendants of Brian Boru, a legendary high king of Ireland from long ago. Connor's mother was the daughter of a powerful nobleman, the 14th Earl of Desmond. Connor had many brothers and sisters.

Connor O'Brien married a woman named Honora O'Brien. Her father was Daniel O'Brien from County Kerry.

Connor and Honora had one son and six daughters:

Becoming a Viscount

His Noble Title and Later Years

On 11 July 1662, King Charles II created new titles for Connor's father. His father became Baron Moyarta and Viscount Clare. When this happened, Connor gained the special courtesy title of Baron Moyarta. This meant he was next in line for the main title.

Connor's father passed away sometime between 1663 and 1666. After his father's death, Connor became the 2nd Viscount Clare. He held this important title for only a few years. Connor O'Brien died around 1670. His eldest son, Daniel, then became the 3rd Viscount Clare.
