The party's main goals are to make sure Denmark stays independent. They also want to protect the freedom of Danish people in their own country. The party supports Denmark's system of government, where people elect their representatives, and they also support the country's royal family.
Since 2012, the leader of the party has been Kristian Thulesen Dahl. The person who led the party before him was Pia Kjærsgaard. She also helped start the party in 1995. By 2013, the Danish People's Party had more than 12,000 members.
