Dowden's Luck is a historic house located in Poolesville, Maryland. It's in Montgomery County, Maryland, in the United States. This old house is a great example of history from the early 1800s.

Discovering Dowden's Luck
Dowden's Luck is a special place with a main house and several other old buildings. The main house has two and a half stories. It was built in 1824 in a style called Federal. This style was popular for buildings in the United States during that time. The house was made bigger with new parts added in 1855 and again in 1910.
Buildings on the Property
Besides the main house, there are other interesting structures at Dowden's Luck:
- A small stone building with a pointed roof. This building was once used as living quarters for workers on the property long ago.
- A brick smokehouse, also with a pointed roof. Smokehouses were used to preserve meat by smoking it.
- A stone spring house. Spring houses were like old-fashioned refrigerators, using cool spring water to keep food fresh.
- You can also see the foundations of two old barns. These show where other important farm buildings once stood.
The Historic Garden
To the west of the main house, there is an old garden. It was first designed around 1855. Even though it's now overgrown, you can still see its original shape. This garden adds to the historical feel of the property.
