History of Ednör – L'Attaque
Where Did Ednör Start?
This roller coaster first opened on May 29, 1999. Back then, it was called Serial Thriller. It was located at a park called Six Flags AstroWorld in Houston, Texas. It replaced another popular ride there called Excalibur. Serial Thriller was the very last roller coaster added to AstroWorld before the park closed down. The ride closed with the park on October 30, 2005.
Moving the Roller Coaster
After AstroWorld closed, the Serial Thriller roller coaster was taken apart. Its pieces were moved to another park called Great Escape in Queensbury, New York. The ride parts stayed in storage there for several years, from late 2005 until 2009.
Ednör's New Home at La Ronde
In September 2009, the parts of Serial Thriller were taken out of storage at The Great Escape. They were then shipped all the way to La Ronde in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. When the parts arrived, they were put on display near the park's entrance.
The roller coaster was put back together between February and April 2010. It was built over the Lac des Dauphins (Dolphin Lake) at La Ronde. It has been operating there ever since!
On April 15, 2010, La Ronde announced the new name for the ride: Ednör – L'Attaque. This name is based on a made-up sea monster that supposedly lives in Lac des Dauphins. The name "Ednör" is actually the word "Ronde" spelled backwards! Before you ride, there's a special show that tells you about different sea monsters from around the world. The ride even has cool special effects, like a misty area, to make you feel like you're encountering the monster itself!
