Elena Martín Gimeno was born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1992. She went to Pompeu Fabra University where she studied Audiovisual Communication. This helped her learn about making films and TV shows.

Becoming a Filmmaker and Actress

Elena started her career by acting in films. In 2016, she starred as a character named Àgata in the movie Les amigues de l'Àgata [es].

The next year, in 2017, she directed her first full-length movie called Júlia ist [es]. She also helped write the story and acted in it! For her amazing work on Júlia ist, she won the Best Director Award at the Málaga Film Festival.

Elena has also worked on several TV series. She directed some episodes of the first season of Perfect Life. She also directed an episode of a series called En casa.

Elena helped write the TV series Veneno and even had a small role in it. Her second movie as a director was Creatura. This film was shown at the famous Cannes Directors' Fortnight in 2023. Elena was also nominated for a Goya Award for Best Director for Creatura. The movie was also chosen to close the American Film Institute's 2023 European Union Film Showcase.
