Emily's Runaway Imagination is a fun children's book written by the famous American author Beverly Cleary. It was first published in 1961. The story takes place in the 1920s and is all about a young girl named Emily who has a very active imagination.

Emily's Adventures

Emily lives in a small town called Pitchfork, Oregon. She is well-known in her town for her amazing imagination. This imagination often leads her into some funny and unexpected situations!

For example, one time Emily fed rotten apples to her father's pigs. She did this because she wanted to avoid getting into trouble from her mother for wasting food. The pigs ended up getting very sleepy and acting strangely because of the apples!

Another time, Emily tried to make a dark plow horse turn white. She used a strong cleaning product, hoping to impress a visiting cousin. As you can imagine, this didn't quite work out the way she planned!

Emily also had an embarrassing moment when she tried to correct her Chinese neighbor's pronunciation of her pet collie dog's name. This public correction made Emily feel quite silly afterward. Through all these adventures, Emily learns important lessons about life and growing up.
