Federal Government Junta of Bolivia, 1899 facts for kids
The Federal Government Junta (also known as the Junta Federal de Gobierno in Spanish) was a group of three important leaders who temporarily took charge of Bolivia. This happened after the Liberal party won the Federal Revolution of 1899.
The three leaders were Colonel (who later became General) José Manuel Pando, Serapio Reyes Ortiz, and doctor Macario Pinilla Vargas. This group was announced on December 12, 1898. They led the Liberal party's efforts during the Revolution. The Junta then governed Bolivia from April 12 to October 25, 1899.
During their time in power, they made several important changes. They also started public projects, like building the Government Palace in La Paz. In 1899, a special meeting called the National Convention chose Pando to be the new president. This meant the Junta's time in power ended.

Why the Junta was Formed
During the time when Severo Fernández Alonso was president, a civil war began. This war was called the Federal Revolution. It was a fight between important groups in the cities of La Paz and Sucre. The Liberals, who were linked to La Paz, fought against the Conservatives, who were linked to Sucre.
After four months of fighting, the Liberals won a big battle called the Battle of Segundo Crucero. This victory helped the Federal Junta gain strong control over Bolivia.
What the Junta Did
On April 14, 1899, doctors Macario Pinilla and Serapio Reyes made an important announcement. They declared that La Paz would be the permanent capital city of Bolivia. General Pando, who became a General on the same day, did not sign this announcement. He thought it was not a good idea at the time. He believed it might make it harder to bring peace to the country.
A special meeting called the National Convention was held in Oruro on October 20, 1899. The main goal of this meeting was to choose a new president for Bolivia. Before that, the delegates at the meeting agreed that the Constitution of 1880 was still the law. However, they also said that parts of the constitution could be changed later if most people agreed.
On October 23, 1899, General Pando was officially chosen as the President of Bolivia. Lucio Pérez Velasco became his First Vice President, and Aníbal Capriles became his Second Vice President.
