Flag of São Tomé and Príncipe facts for kids
The flag of São Tomé and Príncipe is the official symbol of this island nation. It was first adopted in 1975 when the country became independent.
What the Flag Looks Like
The flag has three horizontal stripes. The top and bottom stripes are green, and the middle stripe is yellow. On the left side of the flag, there is a red triangle. This triangle starts from the edge of the flag (called the hoist). Inside the yellow stripe, you will see two black five-pointed stars.
The design uses a mix of colors and shapes to represent different ideas about the country.
