A governor was like the main boss of a territory. They were in charge of many things. This included keeping order and managing the land. They also made sure laws were followed. Governors represented the King of Spain.
His Time as Governor (1770-1772)
Francisco Javier de Morales served as the interim governor. "Interim" means temporary. He took over after the previous governor, Juan de Balmaseda. Morales led Chile for about two years. After his term, Agustín de Jáuregui became the new governor.
