Free State facts for kids
The Free State is a province in South Africa. It used to be called the Orange Free State before 1995. Its main city, and also the place where South Africa's main court is, is Bloemfontein. The borders of the Free State province were set in 1994. This happened when special areas called "Bantustans" were joined back into the provinces of South Africa. The Free State is special because it's the only one of the older provinces that didn't change its main borders, apart from adding those Bantustan areas.
