Gastón Baquero (1916–1997) was an important Cuban poet and writer. He is known for his unique style of poetry and his thoughtful essays. His complete poems were later gathered in books like Magias e invenciones (1984) and Poesía completa (1998).

Essays and Other Works

Besides poetry, Baquero also wrote many essays. These are short pieces of writing where he shared his thoughts on different topics. Some of his essay collections include Ensayos (1948) and Escritores hispanoamericanos de hoy (1961), which looked at writers from Latin America. He also wrote Memorial de un testigo (1966) and Indios, blancos y negros en el caldero de América (1991), which explored cultural and historical themes. His writings often reflected on his experiences and observations of the world.
