Gerónimo Antonio de Ezquerra facts for kids
Gerónimo Antonio de Ezquerra was a Spanish painter from the Baroque period. This was a time when art was very grand and dramatic.
He studied with a famous artist named Antonio Palomino. Gerónimo Ezquerra often painted pictures of saints, usually showing them from the waist up. He also painted beautiful murals, called frescoes, on the curved spaces above the arches in a chapel in Madrid. This chapel was part of the church of St. Felipe Neri.
Ezquerra was especially good at painting "bodegones". These are a type of still-life painting, often showing food, kitchen items, or everyday objects.
In 1725, he was given an important job. He helped to decide how much old paintings were worth. He worked on this task with Antonio Palomino and another artist named Juan García de Miranda.
