Gregorio was born on the beautiful island of Majorca, in a village called Sóller. He was baptized on August 23, 1590. His father's name was Juan Bausá. Gregorio also had an uncle, Simón Bausá Sales, who became an important church leader, a bishop, in Majorca in 1607.
Becoming an Artist
Gregorio Bausá learned to paint from a famous artist named Francisco Ribalta. Ribalta was known for his powerful and realistic paintings. Learning from him helped Gregorio develop his own artistic skills.
