Cricket in Australia
A big event in the 1890s was the start of the famous Sheffield Shield. This was a national championship for Australian colonial teams, beginning in the 1892–93 season. Lord Sheffield gave the Shield during his England team's tour in 1891–92. That team was led by the famous W G Grace.
